If you give a mom a moment….
She will sit to rest her sore feet.
And when she puts her feet up she will notice the hole in her sock, which will reminder her of the hubbbys paints that need a button and the kids dresses that need taken in. She will dig out her sowing kit and go to the table for a place to work.
When she gets to the table she will discover some mystery stickyness, probalby left behind at breakfast. She will wash the table, again. As she does a few crumbs will fall to the floor. She will get a broom and sweep up the mess, and as she emptys the dustpan she will be remined of the diapers pail in the bathroom that needs to be emptied.
She will work her way to the bathroom picking up toys and dusting frames along the way. As she gathers the trash she will notice the pile of dirty towels on the bathroom floor which will reminder her of the load of laundry waiting to switched.
When she get to the washroom she will put the towels in the washer, as she loads some kitchen towels she will be reminded that there is meat and veggies to be thawed for dinner. She will go up to the kitchen and remove the food from the freezer.
When the door on the freezer closes she will notice all the wonderful works of “art” that decorate it which will reminder her of the project she has promise to do with the kids after dinner. She will gather paper, crayons, glue, and stickers for art time with the kids.
As she places them all on the table and begins to sit down to return to the mending she will hear the happy voices of rested children who are ready to eat, play, and be entertained.
And at the end of the day when she FINALLY gets a moment to sleep (not always unenterupted) she will pray for many more days to the same, and will give thanks to God for all the blessings, the ones to care for, to clean, things to mend and pick up. This is the blessing of motherhood!
It is true - if you give a mom a moment she will spend it on those she loves. Sometimes the days are long, sometimes draining, but there is joy in showing the love of Christ to our kids in the day to day tasks. We may get little sleep, be the 1st to taste the food but the last to eat, and rarely go in the bathroom by ourselves, but wouldn’t give is up for a life of rest, fine dinning, or privacy.
Happy Mothers Day to all my wonderful friends who are tackling the the ups, downs, ins, and outs of this wonderful motherhood journey!
Thank you mom for giving me a great example and wonderful support. The more I learn about mothering my kids, the more I understand your love for us, and I'm so blessed to have you. I LOVE YOU!
